More than a text overlay

When a PDF can be read and written back reliably, Nilo PDF Editor updates text in the original content stream while preserving its font, size, color, spacing, and position whenever possible. It also supports images, lines, rectangles, layer order, and alignment guides.

PDFs are complex, and not every file can be edited safely. The editor checks capabilities first and clearly keeps unsupported content read-only instead of silently producing a broken file.

No. Your PDF is read, edited, previewed, and exported locally in your browser. Recovery data also stays in this browser.

Can every piece of PDF text be edited directly?

No. The editor checks the PDF content stream and font encoding first. Only text that can be written back reliably is editable; everything else is clearly marked read-only.

Can I edit images and shapes in a PDF?

You can add PNG or JPEG images, text, and rectangles, and edit some native images, lines, and rectangles that can be identified safely.

Can I edit an encrypted PDF?

PDFs with editing restrictions are decrypted locally. Password-protected PDFs can be opened after you enter the correct password, then supported content remains editable.

Is Nilo PDF Editor free?
